“No Wimps All
owed!”
After years of working in a corporate setting in recruiting and sales, I started to have that ‘entrepreneurial bug’ telling me to branch out on my own. In September of 2001, the world changed in the blink of an eye and my world was no exception. Suddenly, the decision to carve out my own little niche became a very easy one to make.
I took stock of my professional life and realized there was more to each day than getting a big paycheck every two weeks or chasing those promotions. From that point on, I wanted (and needed) to be fulfilled, challenged, proud and happy with the work I did every day and be mindful of how my clients were treated along the way. So…what to do with this entrepreneurial bug? I have always excelled at and loved the process of resume writing. Talk about a fulfilling challenge!
Leaving my comfy corporate job to start ResuMAYDAY was the easiest, hard decision (or the hardest, easy decision?) I ever made. What I mean is that opening a company – any company is extremely hard work. However, I didn’t have to think more than two seconds on that decision and almost a decade later, I still know that I chose the right path. (If you have a minute to spare, ask me how my musician husband fits into this story.)
Now, I have an amazing team of Resume Experts that add inspiration, humor and support to my daily work and thanks to wonderful feedback from the best clients on earth…well, we all know we’re doing the right thing. Our clients come to us from every career level, every industry, and every state of the nation (and a few other countries as well!).
Because we aren’t owned by one of the big conglomerates, we can do things a little differently than most other resume companies. For example, we don’t use templates so our clients won’t have the same presentation as all the other candidates vying for the same job.
Through our consultation process, we get a deep understanding of our clients’ career history…and career goals. Our extensive review process ensures that each client has the benefit of no less than two Resume Experts reviewing their materials – and that’s why our process works so well. We stand out from our competition…and so do our clients.
If you’ve ever listened to my radio show or spotted me as a guest on Chicago radio or television, you know that when it comes to finding a job or getting ahead in one’s career, I have a No Wimps Allowed approach. That’s what it takes today, which is why we’re always looking to improve as writers and coaches. It’s also why I finally sat down and recorded ‘Conversations with a Career Coach‘.
This is my opportunity to share my insider secrets, lessons and tips for job seekers who are struggling in this difficult market. My goal is to get new, better information out there because the old way of resume writing and job searching just doesn’t work anymore! It’s all about you, your career advancement and your career happiness. Here’s to your success!
